For me, House and Pet Sitting has become a full time, long-term (15+ years now) lifestyle occupation and serious undertaking; in taking full responsibility for your home, pets, security, upkeep etc.

It's not a holiday. And it's not 'about me' but about you and your needs, when things go well... and from time to time when there are problems/emergencies which need to be handled right there and then (a repair to a burst water pipe, a fallen tree through a roof, workmen/staff conduct, a potential intruder, pets get sick, have accidents and even on rare occasions have to be euthanased... and even buried!).

Home and pet owners are prepared to pay for good service. For example, Dog-Walking companies are popular now, for upwards of $40 per walk. Boarding Kennels or Catteries often charge from $35-up per pet per day. Basic Dog Grooming starts at $50 upwards. Gardeners and house cleaners come in at a minimum $30 per hour for helping to keep the place looking good.
