So the exciting news is that, following successful completion of KCSE course last year (2023) and exams, Chardavin has secured a place on the 2 year Certificate of Electrical Engineering course at the Nakuru campus of African Institute of Research and Development.
Like any new student, Chardavin is currently finding his feet in a very new environment; not only in a technical college class with new classmates, tutors etc, but also in a new city, where also securing safe, clean and affordable accommodation has been one of the priorities. Not to mention food too, as these are vital support mechanisms extra to the business of the day, happening in the theory and practical classes each week.
And then there is a long list of basic study material and supplies to be purchased, like exercise books, pens, pencils etc as well as much more specific tools and equpiment for the purpose of learning his craft, inc screwdrivers, meters for testing and vital safety equpiment of hard hat, work boots, overalls and more. These have to be purchased over and above the commitment we've already made to his tuition costs for the next 2 years, so if you are able and would love to contribute to help make this all possible, please donate now and be part of Chardavin's success story!! Thank you!
Update, 5th May 2025
Great news, is that Chardavin continues to work hard and do everything he can to keep up with his studies and projects. I'm also proud to announce he has passed his KNEC Exams from end of 2024 and is now well underway in Year 2, Term 2. Next up will be final KNEC Exams in November 2025 followed by upto 3 months of 'attachment' (placement with an employer) to gain real working experience.
I had an hour long video-call with him last night and am pleased he is still in good spirits and full of enthusiasm for the next steps. His attitude and intention to succeed are admirable :-)
